Professional Experience

All roles below are / have been contract or freelance as the contract range and duties have varied, for simplicity sake, I have merged the duties and dates together. However a Full formal CV, Certifications, and testimonials will be produced at a formal meeting / interview

2009 – current

Currently working as an independent IT tech, with small offices, and home based office professionals, my duties include * IT training, * equipment procurement and advise, * Intranet and web site design,* network construction, (both wired and wireless),
* online investigation
when required.

I am presently further my studies in the MCITP Enterprise Administrator Server 2008, and when not working, My time is divided between much of my spare time is spent reading IT related magazines, and online articles, technical books, playing online Cisco style games. As well as working on in-house projects my latest project is creating a training network and intranet.

The network virtual through the use of VMWare, my training network consists of Windows 2003, 2008, 7, XP Home and Pro, I also have a separate Win 7 client that has a training intranet I am building an intranet using word press, XAMPP, and MYSQL, SQL Server, PHPMYAdmin Console.

2008 – 2009

My contracted role was to work as a part time trainer / coach, much of my time was helping students understand the concepts of  * binary, * subnet masking, *TCP/IP & IP addressing, * Anding, duties included helping with advice and guidance on students performance and helped with training students when required, students where undertaking vendor based training such as  * Cisco (ICND Part 1 & 2), * Microsoft, (MCSE), * CompTIA, (A+, N+), whilst with the company, I constructed and delivered both the Windows Vista and MS PowerPoint training course, the PowerPoint presentation course was built as an in house training course, the VISTA training course was designed and delivered on a one to one basis, to enable the student to pass the MOC 5105.

2007 – 2008

I am at present working on extended contract. Initially the contract was for 3 months and was to work as a technical investigations operative, investigating none functioning biometric 4500 terminals  and network based  routers on client sites, though no longer on that project when required I assist engineers when on client sites on the installation and configuration of:

* Speedtouch 546 V6 Routers * checkpoint integrity client * PC configurations * General network communication issues

Throughout this contract I have worked on various in-house projects, at present I am undertaking software and hardware audits, other in house projects have and or continue to included:  * Configuration of Cisco Aironet 1240AG Access Points – 3560 / 2950 Switch’s * data recovery using live Linux CD (Back Track 2) * Laptop lock downs * Secure HD wipes using MICRO-SCOPE * HD Builds and software installs * Assisted in help desk staff training * Built Live windows bootable CD’s * created reports, & general scripts for engineers * built various relational database using wizards and VBA * created a tutorial based script on the installation & configuration of checkpoint Integrity client * Other general day to day technician roles

Throughout the contract I have gained valuable hands on experience with: * 2003 small business server, * exchange server, * Sophos enterprise management console, * contributed to the in-house knowledge base, * used HD imaging and boot tools (Bart PE), * Improved my overall technical skills and gained new skills and experience.  * Added further security experience.

Security Tools technologies used: MICRO-SCOPE, Norton Security 2008, Checkpoint Integrity Client, Sophos enterprise management console, furthering my education on the registry and group policies.

2006 – 2007

During this period I took some time to further my academical knowledge, I continued to work contractual, but, spent much of my time working toward certification, the aim was to gain some form of certification in Security, Networking, Ethical Hacking / Penetration Testing, Digital Forensics as well as some basic programming, some I have achieved, some I have yet to complete, certified or not my studies during this time included: * Networking * Security * PC Essentials * PC Building and Maintenance * Penetration Testing * Basic Programming (entry level VB.Net, Perl, VBA, C++), * Digital Forensics (academical knowledge only)

2004 – 2006 – Carlee Protection Ltd (Own Ltd Company)

Working as an independent contractor on a self employed basis, via own Rsik Management Company, during this time I contracted for various companies as part of a team as well as working on independent contracts, the projects varied and the skills and experiences varied. The companies and organisations included: local government, software houses, law enforcement, financial institutes, educational, legal, and medical. The positions enabled me to work with a range of tools and technologies that included, * RSA Secure ID, * VPN, * RDC, * Active Directory, * switches, * routers, * firewalls, * TCP/IP, DNS, PO3, SMTP, * IPASS,      * Checkpoint, * Norton Internet Security Suite, * VERITAS Backup Exec.

When CPL had no contract opportunities I worked as an independent contractor in the SME market place for small office & home office users working on general day to day IT jobs that could include: * recovering lost passwords, * installing & formatting hard drives, * recovering deleted files and emails, * testing baseline security, * installing peer to peer networks, installing and configuring of the shelf software, updating virus definitions, install & configure firewalls, build systems to specific requirements, etc * Hardware * software * installs, * diagnostics, * problem resolutions, * PC upgrades, * user training, * system configurations, * server de-commissioning, * website building, * lotus notes, * windows 2000 & NT 4, * RSA, * goldmine, * industrial printers, * domains, * active directory, * Zone Alarm, * E-Trust, * HTML, * XML, * IIS, * Outlook, * Outlook Express,  

2005 – 2006

Between September 2005 and February 2006 Carlee Protection Ltd was going through a slack period and as a result I was employed directly as a systems security administrator for DSL. Main responsibility was to install and configure a domain based network, this was a green filed site so it was a complete build project from the ground up, I was solely responsible for the * design, installation, configuration and security of the domain network, in addition to setting up the network other duties included:  * Constructing paper based policies, * staff and end user training, * backing up data, * installing the IT security, * testing the IT security, * setting up and managing active directory accounts, * building roaming profiles, * constructing logon scripts, * repairing old PC’s, * building new PC’s * configuring out of box systems * setting up the VOIP telephony systems, * constructing the in-house intranet, * redesigned the company’s website improving their web presence and listings.

2003 – 2004

Ancis Group Ltd was my first real position in the corporate environment. Like any first position the duties were on an entry level basis but I quickly established myself as the one that could be relied upon and would turn my hand to any task that was set, original duties included dealing with first-line calls, and responding to emails, but, I pushed to get training on the AS400 and was not happy to just answer the phone. On the night shift I set about gaining additional experience on the:  * AS400 * building client websites, * building the company intranet, * developing in-house scripts on basic computer fundamentals, * gaining skills and an understanding on NT4, Windows 2000, * reviewing the system audit logs, * monitoring the antivirus signatures, * updating in documents.

Prior to working in the IT industry I worked in private and corporate security and as such Ancis Group Ltd, wanted to make good use of these old but interchangeable skills in that I was requested to do a full security audit on the companies premises, both internal and external, after the audit was completed I submitted my findings in writing with a full report on what I believed need to be addressed.

2000 – 2003

Many of the roles that were undertook during this period were short term positions or temporary casual contracts, I also undertake some contracts as a freelance web developer creating intranets and online websites for companies, during this time I also spent several months working for a Nottingham based ISP as a web developer, languages used included * HTML, * ASP, * JavaScript, as well as using a small amount * Flash, * Actionscript and * 3D technologies.
